Sparring Class - Information and Objectives
Monday, 01 February 2010 11:25
The sparring class will be open to any interested Crow Martial Arts student as long as they have the protective gear. Please refer to the Term 3 2011 Timetable or contact Crow Martial Arts Padstow for more information.

Please read the information and objectives given below carefully.

Information and Objectives

As free sparring should be seen as a developmental opportunity, the goal is to achieve and demonstrate the following skills at graduation.
  1. The fluid combination of close range and long range hand strikes (within the same exchange) repeatedly within a 3-minute round.
  2. The addition of grabbing, pushing (to create balance) and knees or elbows within a 3-min round.
  3. Unbroken kick combinations within sport Taekwondo rules.
  4. Street sparring kicking: the seamless combination and varied use of turning, straight and spinning kicks.

Students will generally spar alternate rounds to allow for focused effort towards these goals.

At the completion of the course and successful graduation student will be awarded a sparring patch for their Dobok.

Attendance of at least 7/9 weeks is compulsory to be eligible for graduation.

A sign-in sheet will be at reception and it is your sole responsibility to sign-in upon arrival. No attendance = no graduation = no patch.

COMPULSORY GEAR

Chest shield, head and mouth guard, groin guard (males) must be worn when attending the sparring class.
If you do not yet own a sparring pack they are available for purchase at Padstow reception for $99 (+ $25 if you require a groin guard).
